Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Nigerians have been urged to elect a president that has the capacity to tackle the security and economic challenges facing the country.

President, Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora, Ambassador James Erebuoye made the call over the weekend in a chat with journalists. He said once the issue of security is addressed, every other thing will fall in place.

Erebuoye said that times are hard and Nigerians should not be carried away with the economic situation and the inflation rocking the country at the moment because it is man-made.

He said “there is no economic strategy that can fix Nigeria as it is at the moment without first tackling insecurity and restoring peace in the country.”

Ambassador Erebuoye further explained that “fighting terrorism is not a child’s play and the more reason Nigerians must put aside sentiments, tribalism, religious bigotry, party, and propaganda when choosing a president from amongst the 2023 Presidential contestants.”

“You cannot cast out lion hearted monsters, demons dwarfing a nation with a chicken-hearted leader.

“Nigeria needs an intelligent leader who is highly knowledgeable and experienced in tackling and combating insecurity and terrorism, one with integrity, disciplined, Y2K compliant, one who has evolved with technology and the times. We need a lion-hearted leader who is rugged enough to eradicate the major problems the country is faced with today.”

The Delta-born President of the Diaspora Group opined that choice of presidential candidate must be hinged on security as a top priority.

In his words, “number one security, number two security, number three security while number four should focus on eradicating cronies of corruption, then we can think of restoring a better economy”. “No foreigner will like to visit an unstable country with security challenges for tourism not to talk of doing business or investing in such a country.”

Going further, Erubuoye stated that Nigerian citizens first need a peaceful and enabling environment to excel in their various businesses, explaining that educational sector is not functioning well anymore, developments in both rural and urban communities are affected, companies are shutting down and relocating to other countries, even most of the local manufacturers have shut down due to inaccessibility of raw materials resulting from the security challenge facing the country.

He enjoined all Nigerians to look beyond economic reforms and focus more on how to elect a candidate that can resolve the major problem the country is currently faced with which is the security challenge leading to loss of lives and properties.

“Fixing the economy will be easy once the security challenge is tackled. With this, a lot will be achieved in a conducive and peaceful Nigeria”, he concluded.
