The FCT Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, in Abuja, seeking to strengthen their partnership against insecurity.
Odumosu said the visit was to cement the existing relationship and collaboration between the FCT command of the NSCDC and the police, thereby fast-tracking results in their move to rid the territory of criminals and ensure adequate security of lives and property.
He congratulated the IGP on his appointment and further expressed the commitment of his command to join forces and fight insecurity.
Odumosu, who assured the Inspector Egbetokun of maintaining a harmonious working relationship, said it was important to strengthen such relationship across all cadres to foster a more secured territory.
While lamenting that the rate at which criminality and vandalism of critical assets / infrastructures in the FCT was of major concern to him and the corps at large, he stressed the need for a more robust synergy with the police and other security agencies to curb such nefarious acts.
He assured the IGP that his command was willing to partner more in areas of investigation and other operations through coordinated capacity-building programmes.
The commandant reiterated his determination and commitment to contribute his quota to the enhancement of security in the FCT and Nigeria at large.
Odumosu commended the IGP for providing quality and strategic leadership for the Nigeria Police Force through ingenious innovations and deliberate reforms aimed at repositioning the NPF for better service delivery within a very short period of his appointment.
In his response, Egbetokun promised to give adequate support to the NSCDC where and when necessary.
He wished Odumosu a successful administration as the FCT Commandant and charged him to do his best in terms of performance to justify the confidence reposed in him by his boss, Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Audi.
The IGP who acknowledged that crime is dynamic and requires emerging trends in curbing it assured that the police under his stewardship would continue to embrace global standard of safeguarding the country.
