The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, yesterday appealed to supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, to stop casting aspersions on judges of the Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal (PEPT) over the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

Ogah in an interview with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Abakaliki said the judgement of the tribunal had been adjudged as unbiased and fair, and urged the supporters to stop making inciting statements against the judges.

“Nigeria is our country and we must not make statements capable of causing disaffection and possible breakdown of law and order. It is regrettable and unfortunate how supporters of Mr. Peter Obi cast aspersions on the judges.

“Let them not forget that Mr. Peter Obi was a major beneficiary of the judiciary. Obi wouldn’t have been governor of Anambra State for eight years without the judiciary. The same judiciary that was praised and commended for giving him victory up to the Supreme Court is  now being blackmailed by his supporters,” he said.

Comrade Ogah described the 2023 election as a free, fair and credible,   adding that if the election was rigged, the Labour Party wouldn’t have made so much inroad in the political space.

“This is the first time in the history of elections in my ward that an opposition party got over 70 votes. The highest another party has ever secured in my ward is three or five votes,” he said.

Ogah expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would affirm the judgement of the tribunal and urged the Labour Party candidate to channel the huge resources being spent on legal issues to the empowerment and welfare of the masses.

Speaking on the N2 billion and grains distributed by the federal government to states as palliatives, Ogah urged the masses to hold their governors responsible for any delay, adding that the palliatives have been received by the different states.
