The founder, Home for the Needy Foundation, a non-governmental Organisation (NGO), Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, has cried out to the Federal Government and spirited individuals at all levels to lend their support to the welfare of over 3,000 displaced Boko Haram victims seeking succour at the camp.

The Home for the Needy Foundation is located in the quiet community of Uhogua, in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Addressing a world press conference at the camp weekend, Folunrunsho, who used the opportunity to unveil some of the successes recorded in changing the lives of the inmates since its inception, disclosed that the camp has produced first-class graduates, second-class upper division and other 200 students studying various professional courses in Nigeria Universities.

He, however, lamented that the rising inflation in the country has taken a toll on the cost of running the camp even as he appealed for support in the areas of scholarship, food, accommodation and sporting facilities, among other needs.

He said, “Amongst these inmates are current graduates of first class, second class upper division. Further, over 200 students are reading various courses such as Law, Medicine & Surgery, Nursing Engineering, and Accounting. A lot others are presently preparing to go to Law School.

“The Foundation also has over 2,900 students and pupils in our primary and secondary schools located within the camp. Apart from this, widows and those who are not too educationally inclined are also not left out. We provide them with training such as tailoring, cosmetology and fishery.

“I therefore use this opportunity to call on well-meaning individuals, international donor organizations, embassies and government at all levels to come to our aid in our humanitarian service.

“We are in need of scholarships for our students in various tertiary institutions across the country. Also, we appeal for assistance in provision of foodstuffs of all kinds, infrastructure, social amenities, health and sport facilities in the camp premises.”

Some of the graduates also narrated their near-death experience and also thanked the Founder of the Foundation for giving them a new lease of life.
