The Nasarawa State government at the weekend inspected road projects in Toto, Keffi and Karu local government areas.

The inspection team was led by the commissioner for works and housing, Muazu Adamu  Gosho.

The projects inspected in Toto and Karu include the 48. 7 Km  Toto- Umaisha road which links several communities across the axis, and that of Gitata/Panda/Gurku.

The Toto-Umaisha road is an upgrade to asphalt, beginning from Toto Junction to Umaisha at an estimated cost of N4 billion.

The commissioner said the visit to Toto, Keffi and Karu was the first phase of inspection tours targeting all the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said the team would also inspect  other roads in Nasarawa South and North senatorial districts soon.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of work being done by the contractor handling the Toto-Umaisha road, ELA Construction Company, even as he urged them to expedite action on the remaining portion.

In Karu the  commissioner also expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on the  Gitata/Panda/Gurku road being handled by CEEZALI construction company.

He said the road if constructed and linked to Mpape in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would assist greatly in reducing the daily traffic gridlocks along the Keffi-Abuja expressway.

The road project, it was gathered, was first awarded by the late governor of the state, Akwe Doma but there was no significant progress before the administration winded up.

Governor Abdullahi Sule’s predecessor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in 2027, revoked the contract for the road over the “inability of the contractor to complete the work according to specifications”.

Commissioner Ghoso said the current administration would made history by completing the road project.

He said the road which was re-contracted by governor Sule is in phases with the first 5 kilometers under construction.

He said apart from ending the traffic grid lock along the popular expressway, the road would also provide easy access for the community to sell their farm produce which will  boost the economy of the area.
