The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, yesterday awarded scholarships to 52 indigent students drawn from different communities across the constituency.
Ogah, who awarded the scholarship through the Chinedu Ogah Foundation, said the students would be enrolled in the Blessed Martins International Secondary School, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
He said they were selected based on their family backgrounds, adding that during the selection process, it was discovered that many of the parents and guardians may not be able to train them due to financial incapacitation.
Hon. Ogah said the scholarships would last for six years with N250, 000 per term.
He added that he was moved to award the scholarship to reduce the rate of out of school children in the state, adding that during his campaign, he promised to cater for the welfare of constituents.
“We decided to give the 52 students the best of education for them to maximise their potential. Our foundation has given hundreds of children scholarships, built houses for widows, drilled boreholes, paid hospital bills and many more,” he said.
The scholarships were given to the students during the new intakes admission ceremony organised by the proprietress of Blessed Martins International Secondary School, Abakaliki, Mrs. Mary Chinedu Ogah.
