Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has commissioned three reconstructed roads in Aba, restating his administration’s commitment to change the infrastructure narrative of the state.

Performing the ceremonies at Shallom, Cemetery Market and Emelogu roads as residents of the city trooped out to witness the events, he assured that more are coming.

He said the administration was investing in road infrastructure, which is among the areas it declared state of emergency because quality road network is a huge enabler for economic development.

Otti, who regretted that the Cemetry Market Road had been out of use for over 20 years, said the Labour Party administration was committed to stop the activities of touts at the market.

“Aba needs to be opened up with good road infracstructure and enabling environment that would improve the social and economic lives of the people, which this administration is committed to doing,” he said.

He thanked the residents for their support for the administration and the contractors that handled the jobs, saying that the envisioned new Abia requires the participation of all and sundry to succeed.

The commissioner for works, Don Oti, said the administration had given adequate attention to road infrastructure to enhance economic growth.

He warned that henceforth, it would be a punishable offence to dump refuse in the drains or display merchandise along the road as the law against them would soon be enacted.

In their respective speeches, the president, Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Jerry Kalu, a resident of Emelogu Road, Uche Okafor among others extolled the administration for the interventions.
