NPA Grants Approval To Export Processing Terminal In Ogun

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA),has granted approval to AIM Logistics Limited as an Export Processing Terminal (EPT).

In a statement by the management of AIM Logistics, the company, located on the Lagos/Sagamu expressway, has transmuted into an emporium where export bound cargoes are seamlessly processed from source to the port for onward shipment to overseas destinations.

According to the statement, the terminal is a haven for Nigerian and expatriate exporters and importers, saying the NPA inspection team were impressed with facilities available in the company.

Speaking, the terminal manager, Jide Adeleye, stated that the aim of the terminal was to be the best export terminal in the world.

“Honestly, the facility here is incomparable and essential in the cargo and logistics enterprise anywhere in the world. Our Chairman, Mr Cyprian Nwankwo, is passionate about Nigeria becoming a great nation, which explains why no expenses are spared to ensure that AIM Terminal compares with the best cargo terminals in Africa. So, the government approval was expected,” Adeleye stated.

Adeleye, however, commended NPA for the approval and promised that AIM Export Terminal would not disappoint the country and the maritime sector.

“We are equal to the task as we are no newcomers in the cargo and logistics trade. Mind you, we have a plethora of very functional trucks to assist our increasing clientele,” he noted.

However, the NPA managing director, Mohammed Bello-Koko, said the approval of AIMS EPT was to support the implementation of the Federal government’s economic diversification programme aimed at addressing the logistics challenges inherent in the export supply chain.

Bello-Koko, said, “This action (approval of AIMS Export Processing Terminal) is to further support the implementation of the federal government’s economic diversification programme aimed at addressing the logistics identified challenges that are inherent in the export supply chain in collaboration with Nigerian Export Promotion Council and other relevant agencies. I am, therefore, pleased to inform you that the management, hereby, grants approval for Messrs AIM Logistics Limited to operate as an Export Processing Terminal (EPT).”

LEADERSHIP reports that Bello-Koko had, at a recent media forum in Lagos, disclosed that EPTs will serve as a pre-gate, especially for agro exports where pre-shipment sorting, stuffing, processing, sealing and certification will be done.

He stated that the EPTs will reduce cost to the exporters, reduce time that it takes to export goods out and then make the process faster and seamless.
