The suspended dean of the faculty pf law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Cyril Ndifon, has raised the alarm over threat to his life by armed men who disguised as security agents and attempted to whisk him away.
Ndifon made the allegations yesterday in Calabar, the Cross River State capital while recounting his ordeal to newsmen.
He said on Sunday at 8:18 am while he was at church at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Calabar Municipality local government area of performing his duty as a church warden, armed men stormed the church and demanded his arrest.
He said the cathechist of the church whom the gunmen accosted demanded for their identification or arrest warrant. Unfortunately, the armed men who claimed to be security operatives couldn’t provide either of the items.
The cathechist asked the gunmen to wait for him so that he can get permission from the officiating minister, stressing that upon returned to relay the message of the officiating minister to the gunmen, none of them were found.
In a reaction to the issue, Ndifon accused the school management of sending the fake security officials to abduct him.
