Ondo State House of Assembly has directed the state’s chief judge (CJ), Justice Olusegun Odusola, to constitute a seven-man panel of inquiry into allegations of gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Moving the motion for the Constitution of the panel, the majority leader, Hon. Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, said the action was in line with the Nigerian Constitution 1999 (as amended).
The motion was seconded by the lawmaker representing Ifedore Constituency, Hon. Tope Komolafe.
The lawmakers said, “In line with the Nigeria Constitution, Section 188 subsection 4-5, the chief judge of the state shall as requested by the House of Assembly, appoint a panel of seven persons who are of unquestionable character and integrity to investigate the allegation as regarded by the section.”
Oladiji (speaker) said it was imperative to investigate any matter of allegation in line with the constitution.
He said the House would continue to follow due process in its operations.
The speaker, therefore, directed Justice Odusola to set up the panel to investigate the allegations against the deputy governor and report the findings to the House.
“The deputy governor is hereby given seven days to respond to the letter written to him by this honorable House,” he said.
