A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ogbonna Nwuke, has called on the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to consider the advice of the party’s former deputy national chairman, South-West, Chief Bode George, and kickstart negotiation process with the minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

George had while appearing on a national television, called on the party’s national leadership to initiate reconciliation moves with Wike and other aggrieved members of the party.

Nwuke, who spoke with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the calls by the elder statesman and others were borne out of their love for the leading opposition political party in the country.

He said, “It is wise thing to do that when you have problem in your family, you sit down and discuss them. You can’t sit down and say you won’t talk and expect peace to be in that house, no! So those who are calling for some engagements with Wike understand his contribution to the party.

“You see, the mistake we make in this country is; nobody is indispensable, we say some of the times. Then, you dispense some quality, you dispense some good hands. It is a good advice to the  PDP from Chief Bode George.

“Bode George is not a young man; he is an elder, who has seen it all. Quite a number of people in the PDP are thinking in that way. That is why those extremists who are calling for Wike’s expulsion are not making any progress.

“PDP NWC are not saying anything yet; that means if they are not saying anything in the open, they are saying something behind. They are talking to people on the right and people on the left in an attempt to forge a stronger union.

“So, Bode George and others who are calling for a reconciliatory move with Wike are making it out of their love for their party, understanding of circumstances of party building and need to keep a coercive force within the PDP,” Nwuke said.
