The relationship between Nigeria and Ghana as countries is being extended to include affinity among ruling parties of the West African states.

This came to the fore when the Ghanaian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Rashid Bawa, visited the  ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, in his office in Abuja yesterday.

Bawa who congratulated APC on its victory at the last general election, informed Ganduje that the national chairman of Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayensu Ntim is to attend a book launch in Nigeria and would visit his APC counterpart for more synergy.

He also said the potential NPP presidential candidate in Ghana’s next general election, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, will also pay a courtesy call on the APC national chairman to get his blessings.

“We have a certain leanage between Ghana and Nigeria, politically, we follow each other, whatever happens in Ghana happens in Nigeria and vice versa.

“The just concluded elections, our party in Ghana was very happy for APC having won this election because we call it in Ghana trying to break the eight, it’s always been difficult in Ghana, crossing over after the second term of a president.

“National chairman of the ruling party is visiting Nigeria to co-chair in the luncheon of that particular book. He has not visited Nigeria and we felt that it is an opportunity for him if you are available for him to pay a courtesy call on you before the programme or after the programme.

“Now we have this young man who is a governor of a central bank, who became the vice president in the last six years and is aspiring to be the president,” the Envoy said.

In his response, Ganduje said the strong relationship between Nigeria and Ghana should be extended to the ruling political parties of the two countries.

“I think this is a new dimension, this is a good omen for the two countries, and I assure you we are looking forward to your chairman of the ruling party in Ghana to be here in Abuja.

“I assure you, we will be together and we will look forward for a return much after visiting Nigeria to attend this occasion. I assure you we will also seek to return much so that the biggest political party in Africa will certainly visit it’s counterpart in Ghana,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ganduje had while playing host to a group known as Inter-Tribal Community leaders, urged Nigerians to respect inter-ethnic nationalities all over the country.

“We are all human beings. We are created by God. If God wants us to be one tribe, all of us will be one tribe. If he wants us to be one religion, all of us will be one religion. Before you blink your eyes, all of us will be speaking in one language,” he said.
