Federal government said it has taken measures to reduce the high cost of transportation and to improve food production in the country.

The assertion was made yesterday by the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

He spoke at the launch of an album of the Maryann Ann Tarka Music Ministry/60th birthday celebration and conferment of OSH Association UK Fellowship on Hon Tarka Chris Kwaghve in Abuja.

Akume said, “I want to make an appeal to all Nigerians, that this is our country, let’s continue to endure the present circumstances, the pains that we are going through but it is just a matter of time. The pains are being transformed into joy.

“Measures are being put in place to reduce the cost of transportation, and to improve the production of food in our country.”

Meanwhile, Mrs Maryann Ann Tarka said, “Love is a common factor and it is what unites everybody. If you love each other irrespective of your tribe or race or wherever you come from you will not have a problem in Nigeria.

“I see people from my place, love the people from the North, South and in fact, all over Nigeria. When my father-in-law, the late J.S. Tarka was alive, he had friends all over Nigeria.

So, love is a strong factor that binds people together,” she said.

Earlier, Mr Chris Tarka said there is no generation in Nigeria that has not passed through challenges but “we have to understand one thing, we are part of the great country called Nigeria. It is not about the government but about the people making Nigeria what it is supposed to

be.”
