Osun Restates Commitment To Tackling Environmental Degradation

Osun State government has restated its commitment to deal with the numerous challenges posed by environmental degradation in the state

The state’s commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin who stated this while declaring open the 256th meeting of the Forestry Association of Nigeria(FAN) held in Osun state pointed out that Governor Ademola Adeleke is keen towards creating a conducive and clean environment for Osun people.

 He said Adeleke knows the positive effects of a clean and conducive environment for its citizenry.

Hon. Adejoorin disclosed that the governor recently approved the planting of trees in government reserves and extended it to schools and households in the state.

The Commissioner said the concern of the governor informed the return of environmental sanitation to active households inspection for sanitation in the State.

In his own address, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, Mr. Timothy Olawuni said the governor is working on innovations that will help the environment and sanitation sector grow and also ensure that the state shines amongst its pairs.

The President Forestry association of Nigeria Dr. Abiodun Afolabi appreciated the state government for hosting such an occasion.

He expressed confidence that the meeting will bring possible changes to the state especially in the area of environmental sanitation.
