An eyewitness who spoke to LEADERSHIP on grounds of anonymity said that the suspected gunmen were enforcing the illegal Monday sit-at-home order adding that the attack disrupted both vehicular and human movement along the ever-busy Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway.

The eyewitness said the hoodlums targeted motorists and took time to set ablaze vehicles and motorcycles while terrified residents scamper for safety.

He said the incident took place at about 8 o’clock in the morning adding that the hoodlums were bearing sophisticated weapons and were shooting sporadically into the air to scare residents of the area who were already out for their daily activities.

Meanwhile, normalcy has been restored in the area as heavy presence of security personnel were seen within and outside the state capital.
