The National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has explained the purpose of Monday’s visit by members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to the immediate-past President of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari, in Daura, Katsina State.

Ganduje led the NWC members to pay a courtesy visit on the former President in his hometown in Daura.

Speaking with the journalists shortly after the visit, Ganduje said the visit was to formally introduce the new leadership of APC to the former President and to rejoice with him on the occasion of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary.

Ganduje said: “It is mainly to introduce the newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party. And also to show to him our solidarity and to thank him for what he has done for the country in the period of eight years.

“To also congratulate him on the Independence Day celebration, 63 years of development for Nigeria for which eight years must be a portion for his administration, that is why we are here in Daura at his residence. And we thank him for receiving us.”

Asked for his reaction on the victories of APC in some of the Tribunal judgements delivered so far on the outcome of the 2023 elections, the APC National Chairman said: “Of course, seeing is believing and definitely we are happy and comfortable but that is not enough.
