West Ham Vs. Newcastle: Howe’s Men Face Acid Test In East London

West Ham will host Newcastle this Sunday as two of the form teams in the Premier League meet.

Both teams picked up impressive results in Europe in midweek with the Magpies smashing four goals past Paris Saint-Germain on what will go down as a legendary Champions League night on Tyneside.

Eddie Howe’s men have won four in a row after an iffy start to the campaign and now face a key acid test of their ability to juggle domestic and continental ambitions ahead of the international break.

David Moyes will feel his West Ham side are dab hands at such matters these days, off the back of a 2-1 win at Freiburg that sets him on the path to winning their Europa League group.

Only Liverpool and Manchester City have gotten the better of the Hammers this season and they sit above Newcastle in the Premier League title by a single point, yet are seen as the bookies’ underdogs in east London.

Michail Antonio is a doubt for West Ham after missing the win at Freiburg along with Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson.

Moyes must decide whether to stick with the impressive Mohammed Kudus or bring back Said Benrahma on the wing, a decision which could be related to Antonio’s fitness after Jarrod Bowen played through the middle of his attack in midweek.

Newcastle are without Anthony Gordon due to suspension while they contend with a mounting injury list.

Sven Botman, Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock have been ruled out with Callum Wilson and Joelinton major doubts.
