Host communities of the Afam Power Station under the auspices of Umuihueze 1 Clan, have insisted that in line with the rotation policy among the three clans in Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State, it is their turn to produce the next LGA chairman.

They said they supported two clans, Asa and Umuokobo, to produce the immediate-past chairman of the council, Hon Gerald Oforji and incumbent, Elder Okechukwu Akara Nwogu and would want such support to be reciprocated.

A community leader in Umuihueze 1 Clan and former chairman of Oyigbo local government area, Hon Innocent Ajaelu, spoke with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday.

Ajaelu said: “Oyigbo local government area as you know has three clans. We have the Asa, we have the Okobo and we have Umuihueze 1. The Asa man in the person of Gerald Oforji handed over to the Okobo man, who is the incumbent, Elder Okechukwu Akara Nwogu.

“Now, everybody in Oyigbo local government area knows that it is an obvious fact that quietly, that the next chairman of Oyigbo will come from Umuihueze 1. So that one is a known fact; it is an obvious fact that everybody knows.

“No matter the political party, it has to come to Umuihueze 1 because Umuihueze 1 supported Okobo with everything that we have. We supported Asa with everything that we have. So, it is the turn of Asa and Umuokobo to come and support Umuihueze 1 to produce the next local government chairman.”
