Plateau CP Orders Area Commanders, Tactical Teams To Enforce Ban Of SPY Number Plate

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police (CP) Bartholomew Onyeka has directed all Area Commanders, DPO’s,/HOD’s and Tactical Teams to go all out to effectively and professionally ensure the enforcement of the IGPs directives on total ban of ‘spy’ number plates by some vehicle owners across the state without further delay.

The enforcement ban is sequel to the directives by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, on the total ban of ‘spy’ number plates by some vehicle owners across the country, and by extension Plateau State.

 

A statement issued in Jos by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Alfred Alago also warned all enforcement officers, that is, the police and other sister security agencies to respect the rights of citizens in the State while enforcing the IGP’s directives.

He further stated that, police officer and those of other security agencies attached to VIPs who are currently using the spy number plates should ensure prompt compliance with the IGP’s directives or risk being arrested for deliberately violating the IGP’s directives.

 

The CP enjoins residents of the state to support the enforcement officers, and continue to remain law-abiding as they have always been, particularly those who hitherto have been using this spy number plates stressing that they should cooperate with the police in this regard, as the ban became necessary to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizenry.

Part of the statement reads “I wish to inform the general public, particularly owners of vehicles using the spy number plate, with or without authorisation, to henceforth stop using such number plate and to, with immediate effect, respectfully return them to the Plateau State Command Headquarters Jos.”
