As Nigeria joined the global community to commemorate the World Mental Health Day, Deevoice Foundation for Hope has called for the promotion of mental health as an essential human right.

A public health expert and founder of Deevoice Foundation for hope, Diana Eyo Enoette, said this year’s theme, “Mental Health is Human Right,” highlights the significance of equal access to mental health services, support, and understanding for all.

She said mental health is an intrinsic aspect of human wellbeing, deserving the same attention, care, and respect as physical health, while reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to fostering a world where every individual can openly seek and receive the help they need without facing stigma or discrimination.

“We believe in a society that nurtures mental health, embracing diversity, fostering understanding, and providing equitable opportunities for all. By standing united, we strive to create a world where mental health is not only recognized as a human right but is also fully integrated into healthcare systems, workplaces, schools, and communities.

“On this special occasion, we encourage everyone to engage in conversations, support initiatives, and raise awareness that promotes mental health advocacy. Together, let us dismantle barriers, challenge misconceptions, and foster a culture of empathy and kindness,” she said.
