Enugu Lawyers Fight With Chairs In Court As NBA Mulls Sanctions

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nsukka Branch, Enugu State, Ferdinand Ugochukwu Ukwueze Esq., has reacted to the viral video of two lawyers fighting in a courtroom.

In the viral video, two lawyers were seen lifting chairs and shouting on top of their voices. The incident was reportedly recorded at the Customary Court in Obukpa town, Nsukka local government area of Enugu State.

In a report, the NBA chairman described the action of the Lawyers as embarrassing.

“The bar is trying to find out what happened that led to that unfortunate display of some recklessness. We are looking into it really,” he said.

When asked whether there would be sanctions, Ukwueze answered in the affirmative.

According to him, “certainly because it doesn’t represent the nobility with which we are known.

“Once we get to the root of the matter, the Bar at the national level, our disciplinary committee will step in.”
