About 90 people drawn from 30 local government areas of Osun state are currently undergoing a 3-month vocational skills acquisition training anchored by the Vocational Skill Development department of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Osun State.
Flagging off the programme, NDE Director General, Mallam Nuhu Fikpo, represented by Osun State NDE coordinator, Mr Fakunle Julius said the Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) programme designed by the directorate to equip the grassroots community populace with adequate skills will make them to be self-reliance.
Fikpo who disclosed that beneficiaries are entitled to N5,000 basic transport allowance per month during the duration of the training in Shoe and leather works, Barbing, Fashion designing, Catering and Hair dressing added that the skills will not only help the fulfilment of participant’s dreams and aspirations in their chosen careers but expose them to greater business opportunities geared toward self- reliance.
In his goodwill message the National Director Vocational Skills Development, who was represented by Mrs Cynthia Christopher welcomed participants and enjoined them to make the best use of the opportunity provided by the skill acquisition scheme.
She admonished them to be of good conduct, as hard work and proximity is expected of them as good ambassadors of their various homes and the directorate during the programme.
