Nnaji urged the Council to continue with its laudable initiatives and explore opportunities to expand their impact, reaching more beneficiaries across the country.

The minister stated these while briefing journalists after his inspection tour of RMRDC Technology and Innovation Complex in Abuja at the weekend.

He expressed delight over the array of pilot plants established by the Council to demonstrate the conversion and commercial viability of Research and Development (R&D) outcomes into industrial inputs and products.

According to Nnaji, the pilot plants cover various industries and products, such as paints, fertilisers, plastics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, personal protective equipment among others.

He said these are a testament to the Council’s commitment to expanding the frontiers of research, development, and innovation in Nigeria in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister commended RMRDC’s Director-General, Prof. Hussaini Doko Ibrahim, and his team for their efforts towards the realisation of the mandate of the Council.

He called for collaboration between RMRDC and other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, such as the universities, research institutes, private sector, civil society, and development partners to advance the innovations.

“As the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, I assure the Council of my Ministry’s support and cooperation in advancing its noble mission.

I look forward to working closely with you to ensure Nigeria becomes a hub of innovation and a leader in raw materials development in Africa and globally.

“In this regard, I call upon the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and other stakeholders to seize these opportunities. Let us come together and harness the full potential of these advancements.

“By working collaboratively, we can drive the adoption of these technologies, create new businesses, generate employment, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global market. The time for action is now,”Nnaji added.
