Workers of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti (BOUSTI) have petitioned Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, over alleged mismanagement of institution’s funds by the vice chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa and the bursar Mr. Babatunde Apata.

The members of staff, who called on Oyebanji and the anti-graft agencies to probe the principal officers on the administration of the university’s resources, demanded a forensic audit of the school’s finances to ascertain the level of the financial mess.

In a petition made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, they accused the principal officers of high-handedness, incompetence, autocratic policies, blackmail saying that their action had drastically dragged the already fast-growing University backwards and subjected its staff members to untoward hardship.

When contacted, the vice chancellor neither picked his call nor responded to text messages sent to his telephone.

The institution’s public relations officer, Mr Temitope Akinbosoye, described the allegations as baseless and concocted by dubious personalities.

Akinbosoye added that the institution would react to the allegations at the appropriate time.

The workers claimed that the increased funding of the Ivory Tower after its upgrade from a college to university, could not be felt in the welfare of workers as the VC and the bursar connived to divert such funds into personal use.

They said, “It is shocking that the University is still battling with unpaid salaries despite the fact that the University has recorded a significant financial improvement in the last two and half years. A university that made over N1 billion in just one session should not find it difficult to run.

“The university is not being run as expected because of the recklessness of Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa and Mr. Babatunde Apata. Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa led Management owes staff all the arrears of 2018 and 2019 promotion.”
