Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has called on judges of the 38th edition of the state’s qur’anic recitation competition to discharge their duties with utmost fear of Allah.

The governor gave the advice while declaring the competition open in Kafin Madaki, Ganjuwa local government area of the state yesterday.

The governor noted that the introduction of the competition since 1986 had immensely contributed to engaging youths to concentrate on the learning and memorisation of the qur’an.

Governor Mohammed who was represented by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, appreciated the outstanding performance of Bauchi State delegates in the competition at both national and international levels over the years.

He said the excellent performance of the delegates informed the decision of the state government to be supporting the annual competition by providing the requirements of both the organisers and participants.

“I am aware that about 240 pupils, both males and females will participate in the 38th edition this year in six categories, out of which only 12 pupils will be selected to represent the state at the national competition.

“There is therefore the need for each and every participant to work hard, and obey the rules and regulations of in the competition to enable him or her to be selected to represent the state in the forthcoming national Musabaqa scheduled to hold in Yobe State,” he said.
