2023 AFCON: Super Eagles To Take On Equatorial Guinea As CAF Unveil Match Schedule

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the official match schedule for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, under the guidance of coach Jose Peseiro, have been drawn into Group A alongside tournament hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea.

This much-anticipated tournament, marking the 34th edition of the biggest sporting event on the African continent, is set to run from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

The matches will be hosted in various cities across Côte d’Ivoire, including Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouake, San Pedro, and Korhogo.

The opening match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024, with the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, facing off against Guinea-Bissau at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe in Abidjan.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will commence their campaign on Sunday, January 14, 2024, as they take on Equatorial Guinea.

In the second group game, Nigeria will face host Cote d’Ivoire on January 18, also at the Stade Olympique Alassane Quattara, Abidjan.

For the final group game against Guinea-Bissau on January 22, the Super Eagles will play at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, Abidjan.

The Super Eagles have earned their place in this prestigious tournament with an outstanding performance in the AFCON qualification, leading their group with 15 points. 

They aim to continue this impressive performance and clinch their fourth AFCON title.
