According to a statement by the director Army public relations, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the troops launched a carefully planned offensive operation into Tukandu village, targeting a notorious group of terrorists, responsible for various atrocious and heinous activities in the general area.

He said troops’ fierce onslaught resulted in the death  of many terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

In the following mop up operations, troops recovered three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, two Rocket propelled Gun Bombs and nine motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has commended the troops and charged them to remain resolute and continue to escalate their operations against the terrorists to decimate and deny them the freedom of action.
