Former vice president and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has personally reacted to the verdict of the Supreme Court on the election, saying the judgement of the apex Court has grave implications for the future, including the erosion of trust in the electoral system.

Atiku, who stated this during a press conference on Monday, however, said while this phase of the contest was done, “I am not going to go away if you think I am going to go away, forget about it.”

The former vice president, who was speaking on the judgement of the apex court for the first time, lamented that the Supreme Court implied in its judgement that crime is good and should be rewarded.

He said it legitimises illegality, forgery, identity theft and perjury.

While he pledged to keep fighting to ethrone democratic ideals, he, however, said the struggle should now be led by the younger Nigerians who have more at stake than his own generation.

He also made an appeal to the National Assembly to amend the electoral law to stop any court from resorting to technicalities; make the tenure of office for political office-holders to one term of six years; make all electoral disputes resolved before swearing-in.
