Natives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have described the call for the removal of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike as baseless and insensitive, saying that they are pleased to have a southerner as minister of the (FCT), especially for his thoughtfulness and swift actions to see to the growth of Abuja and the welfare of civil servants.

The natives also commended President Bola Tinubu and the FCT minister on the recent creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission and Secretariat for Women Affairs.

A stakeholder and elder statesman, Danjuma Tanko Dara, who spoke on behalf of the natives at a press briefing yesterday, applauded the president and Wike for the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Women Affairs Secretariat and for removing the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

Dara expressed confidence that with the way things are going with the present administration, in a few months from now, the FCT will wear a new look because there will be multiple projects all around the territory.

He said, “That is why we are calling on people who are not natives of the FCT to mind their business and stop interfering in the affairs of the FCT, by calling for the removal of Wike as FCT minister.

“That call is baseless and should be ignored by the president. So far, Wike is a God-sent to the FCT and we are satisfied with his administration which has brought transformation to the FCT.”

He also congratulated President Tinubu for his victory at the Supreme Court, describing the judgement as a victory for Nigeria and the FCT natives in particular.

The elder statesman further said that with the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the FCT will have permanent secretaries in the secretariats and a Head of Service, and workers in the nation’s capital will have a bright future before retirement.
