A civil society organisation (CSO), Restore Nigeria Integrity Initiative, has showered praises on the minister of Works, David Umahi for introducing several innovations in the execution of road projects.

The group appealed to the ministry to fight corruption to its kneels by ensuring that contractors who do not follow due process are brought to book.

After the group’s recent meeting, its chairman, Comrade Mathias Udo, also called on the accountant-general of the federation (AGF), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, to ignore those making spurious calls for the redeployment of the director of finance and accounts Mr. Olakunle Ogunsemowo Oladipupo on flimsy excuses and allegations with a view to hoodwink the ministry into submission.

Recalling some events under the last dispensation, Udo said several substandard projects were executed by contractors and payments were made to them without passing through due process.

The group commended Umahi’s new policy of using concrete in road construction which will ensure durability, longevity and good road maintenance when executed in line with the specification and scrutiny to ensure total compliance with laid done standards of the ministry of works.
