Board of Trustees of Mdzough u Tiv during its 2022 meeting with the Tor Tiv, Prof James Ayatse at his Palace in Gboko lifted the suspension it placed on the Lagos chapter of the Mdzough u Tiv following the leadership tussle that has rocked the organisation and directed them to conduct fresh election.
The meeting, presided over by His Royal Majesty, Prof James Ayatse with stakeholders of Lagos State chapter of the organisation as well as national leadership of Mdzough u Tiv in attendance, resolved all the contending issues that led to the leadership crisis within the organisation last year.
A statement by the special assistant to the monarch on Media/ICT Freddie Adamgbe quoted the Tor Tiv as resolving that the leadership of the chapter headed by Mr Simon Kwaghbo should continue to operate in the interim pending when the new leadership is appointed.
“I am giving you two weeks to commence the process of appointing a new leadership and it should complete within six weeks and the president of the association must emerge from Sankera Intermediate Area,” he said.
The meeting among other things also warned against victimization, defamation of character or any ill-feeling against any member of the organisation on account of his or her role during the process of selecting their leaders while it lasted.
The Tor Tiv who is the chairman Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers as well as the president Tiv Area Traditional Council commended the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the AIG Zone 2 Lagos, Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, the Director, DSS Lagos State and others for their intervention which had prevented the crisis from degenerating to an unhealthy level.
