NGO To Execute N12.5m Project In Abuja Communities

A nongovernmental organisation under the auspices of Inner Wheel Club of Apo affiliated with Rotary International has proposed to execute a N12.5m projects in some communities of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the years 2023 to 2024.

President of the club, Angela Ogwuche, who made this known during her investiture as the third President of the club and the inauguration of the Executives for the 2023/2024 Inner Wheel Year, said the proposed projects include the purchase of Wheelchairs for the physically challenged

Other are drilling of boreholes in a community that lacks water, women’s Business Empowerment, Education Support – Payment of School WAEC fees, Food Support, Health Support (Payment of Hospital Bills and gifts for children’s care, Hospital equipment, Advocacy against social vices, Computer Training and laptops and installation of solar lights for students.

According to her, the club has executed many projects in many villages, which include classroom renovation and furnishing for community schools where children were sitting on bare floors.

“Free health care provision, Eye Screening for communities, as well as scholarships to abused teenagers. Right now, we have a number of them at different levels of Education.

“Several skills have also been acquired by young people who participated in entrepreneurship training that we provided free of charge; food items were distributed to some poor elderlies and widows in some villages, to name just a few,” she said.

The immediate past president of the club, Rev. Olabisi Daini said over the past year, they have achieved remarkable milestones and executed numerous charitable projects that have made a tangible difference in their community.

She expressed gratitude to the members of the club for their tireless efforts, commitment, and enthusiasm that made all their projects successful.

“I urge all members to extend the same support, cooperation, and dedication that you have shown during my tenure to our new president. Your unwavering support will ensure the continuity of our initiatives and the success of future projects.

“It is essential that we unite and work together to help our new president in every possible way. Remember, our unity is our strength, and together, there is nothing we cannot achieve,” she said.

During the investiture wheelchairs were distributed to some physically challenged individuals most of whom were students; Popcorn-making machines were provided to aid petty businesses. One grinding machine was given to a widow; Food items such as beans, millets, sugar, and groundnut oil were distributed to enhance some women’s Akara and Koko businesses.
