A member representing Rivers State in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Tony Okocha, has denied involvement in the arrest of two youth leaders from Rumuigbo community in Obio/Akpor local government area.

He cautioned a university don, Professor Reginald Amadi, and some members of the community, who staged protests in Port Harcourt, accusing him of being behind the arrest of the two youth leaders.

Some members of the community, led by Amadi, had last week staged a peaceful protest demanding for the unconditional release of Bobby Ezekiel and Chamberlain Owhonda, who were arrested in front of the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, Okocha, said he was not involved in the circumstances leading to the arrest of the duo in Abuja.

He said although he is a traditional ruler in the community, he was not involved in the crisis in Rumuigbo community as a result of the arrest of the two youth leaders.

Okocha said, “I have nothing to do with the arrest of the two people from my community, Rumuigbo. I know that there has been chieftaincy crisis in Ekinigbo clan over who should be the paramount ruler of Rumuigbo.

“However, I was not involved in the arrest of the two youths at the entrance of Force headquarters in Abuja,” he said.
