Appeal Court Affirms Bala Mohammed As Bauchi Gov

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Governor Bala Mohammed of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Delivering the judgement the panel of three justices unanimously affirmed Bala’s victory in the appeal by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bauchi state, Ambassador Sadique Abubakar challenging the victory of the PDP candidate, Governor Bala Mohammed in the 18th March, 2023 election against the Election Petition Tribunal in Bauchi which affirmed his election.

Commenting on the verdict, the Bauchi state deputy governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau welcomed the Appeal Court verdict which affirmed their successful victory with Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Auwal Jatau said the victory at the court does not only affirm the strength of democracy, but solidifies the commitment of the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed towards the progress, development, and the general well being of the good people of the state.

Auwal according to statement by his media aide, Malam Muslim Lawal in Bauchi on Friday, said the resounding victory at the appeal court is a triumph for all the people of the state as it signifies the PDP led administration’s collective endeavors in advancing good governance, providing quality education, ensuring accessible healthcare, fostering economic growth, and promoting peace and unity.

Our Governor’s victory is a victory for progress, for the downtrodden, and for every citizen who has entrusted their hopes and dreams to our administration.”

Auwal Jatau assured to the people of Bauchi state on the commitment of the PDP led administration to their welfare and the development of the state, pointing out that the victory is a fresh impetus to redouble efforts, to remain focused, and to continue delivering on campaign promises and will continue to prioritize the needs of people, creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, enhancing infrastructure, and ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress.

It could be recalled that during 2023 election Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of PDP polled 525,280 to return as winner while his closest contender, Sadique Baba Abubakar has 432, 272 votes while the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Halliru Dauda Jika who got only 6,496 votes.
