Smith stated this when he visited the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja on Wednesday.

He expressed delight with the agenda of reform and refocusing of the EFCC, stressing that it would move the anti-corruption mandate of the Commission forward.

“I welcome the direction you are taking the Commission, the rebranding and other positive initiatives are good,”  he said.

In a statement by the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, Smith also applauded the appointment of Ola Olukoyede as executive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Smith said he made personal efforts to study the antecedents of Olukoyede and found out that he has impressive credentials to lead the EFCC.
