The Bauchi Emirate Council has suspended the turbaning of 55 traditional rulers in the state for allegedly breaching laid down turbaning procedures.

The council arrived at the decision in its meeting and warned district and village heads in the Emirate to shun reckless coronation without recourse to relevant superior authorities in line with the established guidelines of the Emirate.

The chief information officer of the Emirate, Babangida Hassan Jahun disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The statement said, five village heads in Miri district at different times installed ‘traditional title holders’ without following due process.

The statement said the affected hamlet heads were Lushi Takololo; Yayirc; Baram Gada Ta Kasa; Wuntin Dada and Sabon-Garin Birshi Gandu.

Similarly, the Emirate Council issued a warning letter to the district head of Miri who doubles as Danjikan Bauchi, Hussaini Abubakar Othman and the village head of Birshi, Muhammadu Lawal Ahmed for their inability to enforce full compliance with the turbaning procedure of the suspended traditional title holders.

LEADERSHIP Weekend recalls that six traditional rulers had been suspended in the Emirate for alleged partisan politics. Their suspension followed the dethronement of Muhammadu Bello Kirfi as Wazirin Bauchi earlier this year.
