The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has reiterated its commitment to boost professionalism in the industry.

The president, Prince Babatunde Ogunade, stated this yesterday at the investiture of the 13th chairman of the Abuja Area Committee with the theme; “Insurance Prospects in Nigeria: Breaking the Limits.”

Oguntade said, “It is no longer news that the hallmark of all professions is the continuous acquisition of knowledge and in fact openness to new and evolving knowledge. In this regard, the insurance broking profession can definitely not be an exception.”

He said the event aimed to bring together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders to delve into the future of insurance in Nigeria.

He noted that misconceptions persist among the public portraying insurance companies as entities that rarely fulfill their obligations.

He shared insights on how this situation could be mitigated, emphasising the necessity for a collective effort amongst professionals.

Ogunade said his primary focus was on reshaping the narrative, enhancing transparency, and establishing trust to dispel existing misconceptions about insurance companies’ payout practices.

He added; “The industry navigates these challenges, the key takeaway remains the urgent need for proactive measures to overhaul perceptions and increase public confidence in the insurance sector, both domestically and on the global stage.”.

Ogunade stressed the importance of breaking new ground while retaining past successes in the insurance sector.

The new chairman, Asiwaju Jide Bello, assured collective support in facing future challenges and opportunities.

Former chairman, Alh. Owolabi Aderemi, highlighted the need to foster growth and collaboration among members.
