DPO’s Murder: Court Grants 2 Monarchs, Others Bail

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has granted two traditional rulers, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, the Eze Igbu Akoh and Eze Kelvin Ngozi Onugwo, the Eze Ekpeye Logbo and five others bail.

The accused persons were remanded in prison earlier this month over alleged involvement in the murder of late Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, SP Angbashim Bako.

The trial judge, Justice Sika Henry Aprioku, in his ruling on their bail application, granted Ikegbidi and Onugwo bail of N10 million with one surety in like sum, who must be the level of permanent secretary in civil service or a government recognised traditional ruler from the Ahoada LGA.

Police Arrest 18 Over Killing of DPO, Inspector In Imo

The two traditional rulers were granted bail on health grounds.

The judge also granted bail of N5 million with a surety in like sum, who must be a level 16 civil servant to the other five persons.

Justice Aprioku also ordered the accused persons to deposit their travel documents such as international passport at the court and adjourned the case to December 8 and December 13, 2023 for commencement of trial.

The suspects, are standing trial on two counts charge bothering on conspiracy to murder and sponsorship of cultism, in charge sheet number PHC/3208/CR/2023.
