Kissinger received a Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for helping arrange the end of US military involvement in the Vietnam War and was credited with secret diplomacy that helped President Richard Nixon open communist China to the United States and the West.

A private family service will be held for Kissinger’s interment, followed by a public memorial service in New York, according to AFP.
