PICTORIAL: Navy Arrests Vessels For Illegal Fishing In Lagos

The Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy, on Thursday, said it intercepted two vessels over Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU), fishing along the Badagry creeks in Lagos.

In a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP by the Command Information Officer, Patricia Okorie, the vessels have large quantities of fish onboard in spite of their license to shrimp only.

According to Okorie, the arrest was is in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff Strategic Directive towards promoting effective Ocean and maritime governance for a thriving Blue Economy.
