Beneficiaries and graduates of the Korean Government Scholarship (GKS), at its 2023 Alumni Reunion sought ways to strengthen the alumni and sustain their bonds with South Korea.

Among the several suggestions made include the registration of returning GKS Alumni with the Korea Culture Center Nigeria (KCCN), and the creation of a platform to sustain alumni’s link to Korea, and further their relationship with Korea in Nigeria.

The above suggestion alumni member, Udeme Etim, believes will help GKS returnees introduced and connected by the culture center to South Korean companies in Nigeria.

Other suggestions include the hosting of regional Alumni Meetings that involve neighbouring countries, such that the largest number of students determines the meeting point, thereby effectively reducing the number alumni necessitated to travel to a minimum.

Barrister Emefen Idongesit Udom urged that GKS sponsorship of some Alumni students for the reunion.

Speaking at the reunion, KCCN Director, Kim Chang-Ki charged the alumni to remain ambassadors of Korean culture, maintain an open and progressive relationship with Korea, noting that he is open to further suggestions to improve alumni’s relations with Korea.
