2023 Nasarawa Budget Well Implemented – Commissioner

Implementation of the 2023 budget has greatly impacted on Nasarawa State’s economy and enhanced the standard of living of its people.

The commissioner for finance, Hajiya Munirat Abdullahi, stated this during an interview with journalists in Lafia yesterday.

Governor Abdullahi Sule on Friday presented 2024 budget to the House of Assembly for consideration.

In the budget, N86, 954,019,755.50 representing 44% of the total budget is earmarked for capital expenditure, while a total of N112, 925,350,954.18 representing 56 % of the total budget is set aside for recurrent expenditure.

Hajiya Abdullahi said the 2023 budget recorded tremendous progress in its implantation through various quarters with all sectors performing optimally.

She said the progress was made possible because of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s insistence on fiscal discipline and accountability.

“If you look at the implementation of  2023 budget, His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule has done well. He has done exceptionally well in almost all sectors of the economy and this has changed the standard of living of our people positively,” she said.

The commissioner expressed optimism that the 2024 budget would address the economic and other challenges facing the state, thereby raising the standard of living of the people.

“2024 budget by God’s grace will address the economic and other  challenges facing the state. As there will be completion of ongoing projects, provision of more infrastructure and other critical needs of the people of the state.

“And there will be better standard of living, in the state,” she added.

On the N2.8 billion 2023 supplementary budget sent to the House by Sule, the commissioner said the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill  was necessary due to array of projects executed in the year under review.

She also commended the state legislature for the consideration of the supplementary budget and the promise to give the 2024 Appropriation Bill accelerated hearing. The commissioner urged people of the state to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live peacefully with one another for development to thrive.
