Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi, has assured the 4,500 temporary teachers known as (J-Teach) that the state government will employ them after an aptitude test.

The governor stated this when he fielded questions from newsmen over the protest against the aptitude test for the J-Teach staff.

He said the recruitment of J- Teach to permanent teachers is designed to be done in phases and in the first phase they want to absorb 3,000.

“To ensure justice for all, instead of making random selection, we organised this aptitude test for selecting the 3,000 out of the 4,500, and those who did not scale through now will continue to work as J-Teach before next round of recruitment.

“This aptitude test is necessary to ensure only qualified candidates are recruited, and those who can’t catch-up we have other plans for them including vocational training and empowerment,” he said.

The governor added that, the new date for the aptitude test will be announced, but assured that no single candidate will be recruited outside J-Teach.

Over the weekend, thousands of the temporary teachers under the programme known as J-Teach in the state had stalled the conduct of the aptitude test organised by State Universal Basic Education for the recruitment of 6,000 teachers.

The candidates had interrupted the aptitude test over alleged plan by some self-centred officials to introduce impunity in the recruitment process as against the instruction given by the governor.
