Governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Imo State in the November 11 election, Hon Uche Ben Odunzeh, said he has taken steps to reclaim his “stolen mandate in court.”

Through his team of lawyers, he has filed a petition before the Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Owerri, the state capital.

The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hope Uzodimma is the first respondent, APC is the second respondent while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the third respondent.

Already, the APC and INEC have been served the court process.

In a statement he issued yesterday, Odunzeh claimed that the governor’s team is trying to evade being served.

Odunzeh described the election as a charade which doesn’t represent the will of the majority of Imolites that were enthusiastic for a state devoid of blood-letting and perennial sufferings.

The business mogul-turned politician in his petition requested the cancellation of the election for obvious rigging, bypassing of BVAS and falsification of votes.

He argued that his party’s logo was illegible in the ballot which made it impossible for his supporters to vote for him and that affected his candidacy urging the tribunal to uphold the sanctity of the judiciary and invalidate the election.
