Kebbi Farmers Pay Back N2m Anchor Borrowers Loan

Some farmers in Kebbi State have paid back N2 million loan to the federal government.

The repayment of the loan by the beneficiaries followed the directive of the federal government to

return the loan under the Anchor Borrowers Scheme initiated by the past administrations through the

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The recovery of the loan was the initiative of the Kebbi State chapter of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).

The association disclosed that it had recovered the  um of N2 million from the beneficiaries of Anchor Borrowers Scheme in the state.

The vice chairman of RIFAN and chairman of Wheat Farmers Association of Nigeria (WFAN) in the state,

Yusuf Gabi Argungu made this known yesterday during an interview with journalists in his office in Birnin Kebbi metropolis on behalf of the chairman, Alhaji Bello Barade.

He said the funds were recovered from 16 participating local government areas of Birnin Kebbi, Bunza,

He added that the association had since remitted the N2 million into the Heritage Bank account of the

national secretariat of RIFAN.

Argungu said before the end of the year, the association would recover more funds from the farmers.
