Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the senator representing Rivers East senatorial district, Senator Allwell Onyesoh, will be among dignitaries that would grace the opening ceremony and dinner/award night of the 2023 Correspondents’ Week, organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.
While Fubara will be special guest of honour at the opening ceremony holding on Monday, December 11, at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) House in Port Harcourt, Onyesoh will deliver a talk at a dinner/award night, which will hold at the same venue on Friday, December 15.
The Chapel, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the theme of the 2023 Correspondents’ Week, which is being organised in partnership with the Mayor of Housing, is “Rivers State and the Quest for an Ideal Investment Climate: The Role of the Media.”
The statement signed by the chapel’s chairman, Amaechi Okoronkwo and chairman of the Correspondents’ Week Planning Committee, Ignatius Chukwu, said the senator would deliver dinner talk on “Investment Windows for Journalists in Rivers.”
It stated that a former commissioner, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr Emi Membere-Otaji, will be the special guest of honour while the former vice chancellor of the Rivers State University, Prof Barinua Fakae, will be chairman of the opening ceremony.
The statement further said that the commissioner for Information and Communications, Senibo Joseph Johnson and all the commissioners serving in the Fubara-led administration would be special guests.
