Three major public roads, Cemetery, Iyara and Ijaw roads were closed simultaneously and construction works on road expansion and gutters were ongoing in Okere Road and Lower/Upper Erejuwa Road at as the time of filing this report.

While warning against such practice, the LG boss who fielded questions on public outcry on the unpatriotic practice, denied given any individual or individuals permission to close any road on Saturday.

He stressed that there were many event centres scattered all over Warri metropolis, wondering why celebrants will choose to close public roads for the celebration of their events.

Tidi said that the local government council also frowned at the use of public primary schools for social events as he observed that school properties were destroyed during such social events.

Tidi who stated that the practice should be condemned by well-meaning residents, disclosed that officials of the local government council were sent to apprehend offenders.

Consequently, there were traffic obstructions in the few roads in the area which probably prompted the public outcry against the indiscriminate closure of roads for social events in the LGA.
