Sokoto Committed To Polio Eradication, Says Deputy Governor

Sokoto State government has reiterated its commitment to eradicate polio among children.

The deputy governor, Idris Gobir, who is also the chairman of the task force on polio eradication,  at a meeting with stakeholders in Sokoto said efforts are being made to ensure that Sokoto becomes a polio-free state.

According to him, the state government is ready to provide necessary support towards realising the objective.

On behalf of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, Gobir stressed the need for synergy among stakeholders in that direction.

He warned that the government would not condone any act that is capable of jeopardising the goal.

The secretary to the state government (SSG), Muhammad Sifawa, called on ministries and agencies involved in the exercise to remain steadfast for the success of the exercise.

Sifawa also appealed to all field workers to remain dedicated to their responsibilities.

On her part, the commissioner for health, Asabe Balarabe, said mothers have crucial roles to play toward combating polio.

She reiterated her ministry’s resolve to leave no stone unturned in the fight to eradicate polio.

The special adviser on Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Bello Garba, said efforts would be intensified to ensure personal and environmental hygiene among people of the state.
