Abia To Establish Mushroom Factories In 17 LGAs

The president, Ero Abia Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd, Mr Chiemela Adiele has said that the Abia State government intends to establish a mushroom factory in each of the 17 local government areas.

Adiele stated this at a sensitisation workshop on mushroom production technique organized for the management and staff of the state Broadcasting Corporation in Umuahia, the state capital.

He said the gesture was aimed at providing the participants with sources of additional income while in service and enjoined them to avail themselves of the opportunity of becoming self-reliant after retirement.

Contributing, a member of the society, Nnamdi Elekwachi said the health, economic importance and potentials of mushroom production can’t be overemphasised and enjoined them to maximise the opportunity.

In her address, a representatve of the state SME’s Microfinance Bank Ltd.,  Mrs Anulika Onyekwe said the bank provides start-up facilities for enterprenuers with visible business outfit at low interest rate.

In his remarks, the director-general of the corporation, Anyaso Anyaso commended the society for the opportunity, explaining that the participants were already planning to have their mushroom farm.
