Newly appointed chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Tunji Olaopa, has come out strongly against job racketeering scams that have plagued the commission.

Speaking to State House correspondents after being sworn in yesterday President Bola Tinubu, Prof Olaopa vowed to rigorously crack down on the rampant „cash and carry“ culture underlying these job scams.

Olaopa decried job racketeering that has plagued the civil service.

He vowed to partner with intelligence and security agencies to crack down on the corrupt practices and make examples of perpetrators.

„We will do everything possible in collaboration with security agencies to make a few scapegoats and communicate a new face for the civil service commission. That will be our first charge,“ he stated.

He said the new leadership will work hard to rebuild institutional values of incorruptibility, professionalism and capability.

Olaopa also highlighted goals to modernise the civil service, beef up capability, deploy technology and re-institute professionalism.

„We need to move the civil service to a position where it could help the government deliver and that we are poised to be able to do,“ he affirmed.

The chairman and his newly constituted team pledged to rebrand the image of the commission and ensure it promotes the cherished values of public service in carrying out its duties.
